Spartan Honor Žatec: Strength, Courage and Honor in Action

On the weekend of June 7–8, 2025, the town of Žatec became a symbol of determination and heroism. Spartan Honor delivered an unforgettable blend of extreme obstacle racing, military atmosphere, and powerful human stories.

The Army as a Key Partner: Military Honor and Real Challenges

This year’s event stood out thanks to close cooperation with the Czech Army, which gave the race its unique character. Runners crawled under tanks and carried dummy mines – a new and exciting experience for many participants.

Three Races, One Weekend

The Žatec weekend brought three distinct challenges:

  • Saturday – Spartan Sprint: 5 kilometers with over 20 obstacles. Short, intense, and tough.
  • Saturday night – Sprint Night: The same course, but in the dark. Headlamps, silence, and a whole new level of challenge.
  • Sunday – Spartan Super: Over 10 kilometers and more than 25 obstacles. A true test of endurance and mental toughness.

Ambassador Wave

The ambassador wave gave racers the chance to complete the race alongside one of the Spartan ambassadors – experienced athletes who live and breathe Spartan and offered guidance and support throughout the course. Sharing the race with someone like that gave many runners confidence, courage, and the sense that they weren’t alone.

Children’s Home Žatec: The Heart of the Race

One of the most touching moments of the weekend was the participation of children from the Žatec children’s home. They tackled a shortened version of the race and were awarded special medals created just for them. Their joy, pride, and excitement reflected the purest form of the Spartan spirit.

I also really enjoyed leading the warm-up on stage with the other ambassadors – the energy from the runners before the start was amazing. But the most emotional moment for me personally was the warm-up with the Spartan Kids. Being there as the little warriors prepared for their big race truly touched me and filled me with joy.

A Military Finish Line

At the finish line, medals were handed out by a uniformed soldier, adding a powerful sense of authenticity and reminding everyone that Spartan Honor in Žatec wasn’t just about sport – it was also about values like discipline, perseverance, and respect.

I enjoyed this race not only as an ambassador but also as a competitor – I ran the 10km Super and it was great to experience the race from both sides. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity.

OCR Veverky Team in the STG Wave

With my team, OCR Veverky, we took part in the STG wave for the very first time – and it was a great experience that I’m really thankful for. In the Sprint, we placed 9th out of 17 teams, and in the Super we finished 7th – a great team effort!
